Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Tuesday, February 18, 1997:

Resuming the debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Tkachuk, seconded by the Honourable Senator Twinn, for the second reading of Bill S-12, An Act providing for self-government by the first nations of Canada.

After debate, The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Tkachuk moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Twinn, that the Bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.
