The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology has the honour to present its

NINTH REPORT

Your committee, to which was referred the Bill C-35, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (minimum wage), has in obedience to the Order of Reference of Thursday, November 7, 1996, examined the said Bill and now reports the same without amendment but with the following observation:

The committee notes that, once again, the government has already implemented the changes provided for in Bill C-35 and recommends that the government exercise greater care and caution in requesting parliamentary approval ex post facto for such measures.
