The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples, met at 5:37 p.m., this day, in Room 160-S Centre Block, the Honourable Senator Charlie Watt presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Andreychuk, Austin, P.C., Berntson, Chalifoux, Johnson, Mahovlich, St.Germain, P.C., and Watt (9).

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jill Wherrett; Konrad Sioui, First nations Advisor.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From the Squamish First Nations, B.C.:

Harold Calla, Director of Finance;

Jason Calla.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 9, 1997, the Committee continued its examination of aboriginal self-government.

Mr. Harold Calla and Jason Calla made a presentation and answered questions from members of the committee.

At 7:28 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
