The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 3:30 p.m., in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bolduc, Corbin, De Bané, P.C., Di Nino, Grafstein and Graham, P.C. (7).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Prud'homme, P.C. (1).

In attendance: John Wright and Peter Berg, Research Officers, Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESS:

From the University of York:

Professor Sergei M. Plekhanov.

The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to its study on developments in Russia and the Ukraine (See committee proceedings of March 13, 2001, Issue No. 1).

Professor Plekhanov made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:40 p.m., the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
