The Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met in camera at 9:40 a.m. this day, the Chairman the Honourable Senator Rompkey, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Hays, Forrestall, Kenny, Kroft, Maheu, Milne, Poulin, Robichaud, P.C., Rompkey, P.C., Simard and Stollery (11).

In attendance: Mr. Paul C Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate; other senior Senate officials.

At 1:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 8:33 a.m.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Austin, P.C., Comeau, DeBané, P.C., DeWare, Doody, Forrestall, Furey, Kenny, Kroft, Maheu, Milne, Murray, P.C., Poulin and Stollery (14).

In attendance: Mr. Gary O'Brien, Acting Clerk of the Senate, and other Senate officials.

The Acting Clerk of the committee presided over the election of the Chair.

Election of the Chair
2001-02-22/001

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Poulin - That the Honourable Senator Kroft be elected Chair of the Committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was - Resolved in the affirmative.

Election of Deputy Chair
2001-02-22/002

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Comeau - That the Honourable Senator DeWare be elected Deputy Chair of the Committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was - Resolved in the affirmative.

Motion to Print Committee Proceedings
2001-02-22/003

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Kenny - That the committee print 200 copies of its Proceedings.

The question being put on the motion, it was - Resolved in the affirmative.

First Report (Pursuant to Rule 104)
2001-02-22/004

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Kenny that, pursuant to Rule 104, the Chair be authorized to report expenses incurred by the committee during the last session ($375).

The question being put on the motion, it was - Resolved in the affirmative.

At 8:40 a.m. the committee proceeded in camera.

At 9:00 a.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
