The Srtanding Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day, at 9:04 a.m. in room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Thelma J. Chalifoux, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carney P.C., Chalifoux, Chaput, Christensen, Forrestall, Gill, Léger, Pearson, Sibbeston and Stratton (10).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Research Officer.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 29, 2002, the committee continued its examination of issues affecting urban Aboriginal youth in Canada, in particular, access, provision and delivery of services, policy and jurisdictional issues, employment and education, access to economic opportunities, youth participation and empowerment, and other related matters.

WITNESS:

From the Canada West Foundation:

Mr. Calvin Hanselmann, Senior Policy Analyst.

Mr. Hanselman submitted a brief, made a presentation, and answered questions.

At 10:36 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
