The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met at 9:03 a.m., this day, in room 160- S, Centre Block, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Wilbert J. Keon, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Fairbairn, P.C., Keon, Munson and Trenholme Counsell (4).

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament Research Branch: Julie Cool, Research Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 the committee continued its study on the state of early learning and child care in Canada in view of the OECD report. (See Issue No. 19, Wednesday, February 21, 2007 for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

Ms. Dallaire, Ms. Riddel, Ms. Harney, Ms. Lysack, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Elson and Ms. Ablett each made a statement and, together, answered questions.

At 11:02 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
