The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day at 9:01 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Lillian Eva Dyck, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Coyle, Doyle, Dyck, McCallum, Pate, Patterson and Tannas (8).

In attendance: Brittany Collier and Marlisa Tiedemann, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the committee began its examination on the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 11, 12 and 19 of Part 4 of Bill C-86, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures.

WITNESSES:

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada:

Susan Waters, Director General, Lands and Environmental Management, Lands and Economic Development;

Christopher Duschenes, Director General, Economic Policy Development, Lands and Economic Development;

Eric Grant, Director, Community Lands Development, Lands and Environmental Management, Lands and Economic Development.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Duschenes, Ms. Waters and Mr. Grant each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:26 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
