The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 9:02 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario), Dagenais, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Doyle, Griffin and Oh (6).

In attendance: Xavier Deschenes-Philion, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament and Síofra McAllister, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 15, 2018, the committee continued its study on how the value-added food sector can be more competitive in global markets. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 47).

The Honourable Senator Dagenais moved:

That the following budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020, in relation to the special study on how the value-added food sector can be more competitive in global markets, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
