The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day at 6:48 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Lillian Eva Dyck, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Enverga, Moore, Patterson, Raine, Sibbeston and Tannas (7).

In attendance: Brittany Collier and Alexandre Lavoie, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 18, 2016, the committee continued its study on best practices and on-going challenges relating to housing in First Nation and Inuit communities in Nunavut, Nunavik, Nunatsiavut and the Northwest Territories.

The committee considered a draft budget.

The Honourable Senator Raine moved:

That the following special study budget application (study on best practices and on-going challenges relating to housing in First Nation and Inuit communities in Nunavut, Nunavik, Nunatsiavut and the Northwest Territories), for $212,550 for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, be approved, for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration following a final review by the Senate Administration that will be overseen by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure:

NUNAVUT, NUNAVIK, NUNATSIAVUT    $ 212,550
TOTAL    $ 212,550

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
