The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day at 9:01 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Lillian Eva Dyck, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Dyck, Enverga, Lovelace Nicholas, Moore, Patterson, Raine and Tannas (8).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Oh (1).

In attendance: Brittany Collier and Alexandre Lavoie, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 18, 2016, the committee continued its study on best practices and on-going challenges relating to housing in First Nation and Inuit communities in Nunavut, Nunavik, Nunatsiavut and the Northwest Territories. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.)

WITNESSES:

Rasmus Ole Rasmussen, Senior Research Fellow, Specialised in regional development, regional analysis, statistical analysis, GIS, Arctic and Northern regions (by video conference);

Ryan Weber, Senior Research Advisor (by video conference).

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Rasmussen and Mr. Weber each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:26 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
