The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Scott Tannas, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Coyle, Lovelace Nicholas, McCallum, McPhedran, Pate, Patterson and Tannas (7).

In attendance: Brittany Collier and Marlisa Tiedemann, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 15, 2016, the committee continued its study on the new relationship between Canada and First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 16.)

Michelle Miller, Treaty Coordinator.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Lux and Ms. Miller each made a statement and answered questions.

At 7:46 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:55 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Morris made a statement and, together with Mr. Fox and Mr. Chapman, answered questions.

At 8:43 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
