The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:16 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Douglas Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Alberta), Dagenais, Marwah, Stewart Olsen, Tannas, Tkachuk, Verner, P.C., Wallin and Wetston (9).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Dalphond, Deacon (Nova Scotia) and Mockler (3).

In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, the committee continued its study on the present state of the domestic and international financial system. Julien Brazeau, Senior Director, Strategy and Coordination, Financial Institutions Division, Financial Sector Policy Branch;

Gabriel Ngo, Advisor, Financial Crimes Policy, Financial Sector Policy Branch.

The minister made a statement and, together with Mr. Stewart, answered questions.

At 5:23 p.m., the minister departed and Ms. Ryan, Mr. Brazeau and Mr. Ngo joined Mr. Stewart at the table.
