The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bellemare, Boehm, Deacon (Ontario), Eaton, Forest, Forest-Niesing, Klyne, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion and Pratte (12).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 21, 2019, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 88.)

Patricia Jasmin, Chief Financial Officer.

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada:

Philippe Thompson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management Sector;

Andrea Johnston, Assistant Deputy Minister, Innovation Canada;

Krista Campbell, Director General, Digital Transformation Service Sector, Connected Canada Branch;

Frances McRae, Assistant Deputy Minister, Small Business and Marketplace Services;

Paul Arvanitidis, Senior Director, Tourism Policy.

Mr. Fauteux and Mr. Thompson each made a statement and, together with Ms. Jasmin, Ms. Johnston, Ms. Campbell, Ms. McRae and Mr. Arvanitidis, answered questions.

At 7:47 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
