The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:32 a.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington Street, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Boehm, Deacon (Ontario), Duncan, Forest, Klyne, Marshall, Mockler, Neufeld and Pratte (10).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Gaëtane Lemay, Procedural Clerk, Senate of Canada.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, June 10, 2019, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-97, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2019 and other measures.

Sofia Descalzi, Incoming National Chairperson.

Canadian Alliance of Student Associations:

Adam Brown, President.

Quebec Student Union:

Philippe LeBel, President.

Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association:

Shannon Coombs, President.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Descalzi, Mr. Brown and Mr. LeBel each made statements and answered questions.

At 10:42 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:45 a.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Coombs made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:24 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
