The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 2:38 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dasko, Forest-Niesing, Mégie, Munson, Omidvar, Petitclerc and Seidman (7).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the committee continued its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 8, 15, 16 and 21 of Part 4 of Bill C-86, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures.

WITNESSES:

Vanier Institute of the Family:

Nora Spinks, Chief Executive Officer (by video conference).

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Benson made a statement and answered questions.

At 3:25 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 3:57 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
