The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Boehm, Bovey, Cordy, Coyle, Dawson, Dean, Greene, Housakos, MacDonald, Massicotte and Saint-Germain (12).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario) and Griffin (2).

In attendance: Brian Hermon and Simon Richards, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 20, 2020, the committee continued its consideration of the subject matter of Bill C-4, An Act to implement the Agreement between Canada, the United States of America and the United Mexican States.

WITNESSES:

Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance:

Claire Citeau, Executive Director;

Erin Gowriluk, Executive Director, Grain Growers of Canada (Member of CAFTA).

Canadian Cattlemen's Association:

Fawn Jackson, Senior Manager, Government and International Relations;

Doug Sawyer, Vice Chair, Foreign Affairs Committee.

Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association:

Flavio Volpe, President.

Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association:

Jennifer Steeves, Director, Industry and Consumer Affairs.

Ms. Citeau and Mr. Sawyer each made a statement and, with Ms. Jackson and Ms. Gowriluk, answered questions.

At 11:26 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:34 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Volpe and Ms. Steeves each made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:16 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
