Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 30, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day by videoconference at 12:14 p.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Boehm, Deacon (Ontario), Downe, Duncan, Forest, Galvez, Klyne, Lankin, P.C., Loffreda, Marshall, Mockler, Richards and Smith (13).

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-14, An Act to implement certain provisions of the economic statement tabled in Parliament on November 30, 2020 and other measures.

At 2:02 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 3 p.m., the committee resumed.

The minister made a statement and answered questions.

At 3:13 p.m., the Honourable Senator Deacon (Ontario), replaced the Honourable Senator Lankin, P.C., as a member of the committee.

At 4:17 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the committee resumed.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-14.

With leave and pursuant to rule 12-20(4), it was agreed that the committee group clauses according to the seven parts identified in the bill, when appropriate.

It was agreed that the title stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.
