Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 30, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day by videoconference at 2:35 p.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Boehm, Dagenais, Deacon (Ontario), Duncan, Forest, Galvez, Klyne, Loffreda, Mockler, Richards and Smith (11).

In attendance: Chantal Cardinal, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate; Sylvain Fleury and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, March 15, 2021, the committee continued its examination of the expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022.

Gail Mitchell, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy and Partnerships Sector;

Claudia Ferland, Director General, Regional Infrastructure Delivery Branch.

Public Health Agency of Canada:

Martin Krumins, Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer;

Cindy Evans, Acting Vice-President, Emergency Management;

Brigitte Diogo, Vice-President, Health Security Regional Operations Branch;

Candice St-Aubin, Vice-President, Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Branch;

Kimberly Elmslie, Vice-President, Immunization Program Branch.

Mr. Krumins and Mr. Thompson each made a statement and, together with Mses. Mitchell, Ferland, Diogo, St-Aubin and Elmslie and Mr. Conn, answered questions.

At 4:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
