Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 30, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day by videoconference at 6:31 p.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Michael L. MacDonald, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Cormier, Dasko, Dawson, Forest-Niesing, Griffin, MacDonald, Manning, Miville-Dechêne, Simons, White and Woo (12).

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, the committee began its examination of Bill S-225, An Act to amend the Copyright Act (remuneration for journalistic works).

The Honourable Senator Claude Carignan, P.C., sponsor of the bill.
The chair made a statement.
The Honourable Senator Carignan made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:29 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:33 p.m., the committee, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 8:08 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
