The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:29 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Art Eggleton, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bernard, Dean, Eggleton, P.C., Mégie, Omidvar, Petitclerc, Poirier and Seidman (8).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 14, 2017, the committee continued its study on issues relating to social affairs, science and technology generally. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 35.)

TOPIC: Study on Child and Youth Mental Health

WITNESSES:

Public Health Agency of Canada:

Stephanie Priest, Executive Director, Mental Health and Wellbeing Division.

The Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health:

Purnima Sundar, Director, Knowledge Mobilization;

Heather Ennis, Manager of Communications.

Mental Health Commission of Canada:

Louise Bradley, President and Chief Executive Officer;

Nancy Reynolds, Chair, Child and Youth Advisory Committee.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Bradley, Ms. Reynolds, Ms. Priest and Ms. Sundar each made a statement and, together with Ms. Ennis, answered questions.

At 6:12 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
