Ottawa, May 2, 2017 – The Standing Senate Committee on Ethics and Conflict of Interest for Senators presented its report today which contains its recommendations relating to the Inquiry Report under the Ethics and Conflict of Interest Code for Senators concerning Senator Don Meredith.

The report is now public and also available on the committee’s website here: https://sencanada.ca/en/Committees/conf/Reports/42-1

The committee has recommended the expulsion of Senator Meredith, a power it has as a parliamentary privilege to discipline its members, and as conferred upon it by Section 18 of the Constitution. The full legal opinion of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel of the Senate is appended to the report.

The final decision on the report remains with the Senate.
