Saturday, June 30 – Senator Percy E. Downe meets with Girl Guides from Prince Edward Island who were in Ottawa to tour Parliament Hill.

Wednesday, July 4 – Senator Wanda Thomas Elaine Bernard visits the bookmobile at St. Joseph's A. McKay Elementary School in Halifax’s north end. The senator read and discussed books with local children. She thanked teachers and administrators for their hard work keeping the library outreach program operating.

Wednesday, July 4 – Senator Raymonde Gagné meets Josée Clermont, Executive Director of Yellowknife, N.W.T.’s Collège nordique francophone, to discuss French postsecondary education in linguistic-minority communities.

Tuesday, July 10 – Thursday July 12 – Senator Joseph A. Day, Vice-president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, attends the NATO pre-summit meeting and NATO Summit in Brussels, Belgium.

Wednesday, July 11 – Senator Marilou McPhedran visits the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg to discuss motion M-163, a House of Commons private members’ motion calling for Canada to have a Women, Peace and Security Ambassador.

Monday, July 16 – Senator Victor Oh attends the 73rd Midwestern Legislative Conference Annual Meeting in Winnipeg on behalf of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group. Senator Oh is pictured here with Canada’s former ambassador to the United States, Gary Doer.

Tuesday, July 17– Senator Percy E. Downe and Senator Diane F. Griffin meet Patrick Farrar, the newly appointed CEO of Startup Zone, which offers support and services for Prince Edward Island entrepreneurs. The senators toured the group’s offices in downtown Charlottetown.

Tuesday, July 17 – Senator Yvonne Boyer meets with the Métis Nation of Ontario Historic Sault Ste. Marie Metis Council. 

Monday, July 23 – Senator Marilou McPhedran attends the Canadian Regional Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Ottawa. Senator McPhedran is pictured with Nancy Peckford (Equal Voice), Member of Parliament Yasmin Ratansi and Elena Bakopanos (Equal Voice). Equal Voice is a national, bilingual, multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada.

Tuesday, July 24 – Senate Speaker George J. Furey, Q.C. speaks at the 56th Canadian Regional Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Ottawa to kick off a week of important discussions. Canada is an active and founding member of the association, which works to support good governance, democracy and human rights.
