Thursday, October 27, 2022 – Senator Ratna Omidvar delivers a virtual keynote speech at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada’s annual conference, “Comparing Immigration Policies: Canada and the World.” Senator Omidvar focused her remarks on the importance of immigration to the Canadian economy and society.

Thursday, November 3, 2022 – Senator Daniel Christmas, right, is awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in recognition of his significant service to Nova Scotia. The medal was created to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Late Majesty’s accession to the throne and honours significant contributions and achievements of Nova Scotians. Senator Christmas is pictured with Nova Scotia’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc.

Saturday, November 5, 2022 – Senator Brian Francis attends Maw-Lukuti’kw, The Epekwitk Nationhood Gathering in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He gave a presentation on the First Nations fishing rights affirmed in R. v. Marshall and participated in a session where community members discussed visions for how to implement treaties and advance reconciliation. The senator is pictured with Jenene Wooldridge, executive director of L’nuey, the initiative that hosted the gathering.


Monday, November 7, 2022 — From left, Senator Hassan Yussuff, Senator David M. Wells, Senate Speaker George J. Furey and Senator Lucie Moncion meet with the Portuguese ministers of foreign affairs and economic and maritime Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho and António Costa Silva respectively during a visit to Lisbon, Portugal. The parliamentarians’ discussions centred around the strong NATO and CETA partnership, as well as the deep cultural links between Canada and Portugal.

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 – Senator Chantal Petitclerc, centre, visits the Centre d’activités récréatives et éducatives (C.A.R.E. Centre) in Côte Saint-Luc, Québec. The senator spoke to the centre’s clients — adults with physical disabilities aged 21 and older — about the Senate and its role in Parliament, as part of the centre’s continuing education program. During the visit, organized by SENgage, she also answered questions about the bills and issues she is championing in her work.

Tuesday, November 22, 2022 – Senator Amina Gerba speaks to students at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) enrolled in a seminar on the markets of African countries. During the virtual visit coordinated by SENgage, Senator Gerba provided insight into the difficulties of defining Canada and Africa’s relationship, within the context of building business and trade relationships.
