They discussed the challenges of transboundary water management.


Friday, February 17, 2023 – Senator Rob Black, front row, fourth from left, participates in a discussion panel about the role of senators and members of the House of Commons with MP John Barlow, front row, sixth from right, during the 4-H Canada Citizenship Congress in Ottawa, Ontario. He focused the discussion on agricultural and rural issues.


Wednesday, February 22, 2023 – Senator Rob Black delivers remarks at the Beef Farmers of Ontario annual general meeting in Toronto, Ontario. He celebrated the hard work of over 19,000 beef farmers in the province.


Thursday, February 23, 2023 – Senator Rosemary Moodie, right, and member of Parliament Hedy Fry, left, join the Canadian delegation to the winter OSCE PA meeting in Vienna, Austria. As part of the delegation, Senator Moodie spoke about the impact of armed conflict on human trafficking, with a focus on the plight of children and all Ukrainians.


Tuesday, February 28, 2023 – Senator Kim Pate meets with second- and third-year law students enrolled at the University of Manitoba’s faculty of law.  As part of this meeting organized by SENgage, she talked about her role in the Senate and legal issues related to Indigenous offenders and Indigenous women in the correctional system.


Tuesday, February 28, 2023 – Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard, left, spends the day at Bear Creek Secondary School in Barrie, Ontario, to talk to students, faculty and community members about the importance of Black history and the contributions of Black people in Canada.


Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – From left, senators Margo Greenwood and Brian Francis, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights of Indigenous Peoples José Francisco Calí Tzay, Algonquin Elder Claudette Commanda and senators Kim Pate and Marilou McPhedran discuss key issues impacting the lives of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in the Senate of Canada Building.


Thursday, March 2, 2023 – Senator Donna Dasko participates in a speaker series for the 50th anniversary of Trent University’s Canadian studies program in Peterborough, Ontario. She talked about why Canada needs more women in politics.


Friday, March 3, 2023 – Senators Yvonne Boyer, third from left, Kim Pate, centre, Rebecca Patterson, second from right, join the Defence Indigenous Advisory Group (DIAG) in Senator Patterson’s office on Parliament Hill to discuss the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. They also discussed the importance of the DIAG to the Department of National Defence.


Monday, March 6, 2023 – Senator Victor Oh visits the Peel Children’s Aid Society’s (Peel CAS) new building accompanied by CEO Mary Beth Moellenkamp in Mississauga, Ontario. The organization moved to a new facility in mid-2020 to better host services and programs for youth in the Peel Region. Senator Oh has strong ties with this organization since his 2016 amendment to Bill C-6, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act and to make consequential amendments to another Act, which allowed minors to apply for citizenship independently of their parents.


Tuesday, March 7, 2023 – From left, senators F. Gigi Osler, Marie-Françoise Mégie, Rebecca Patterson, Amina Gerba, and Sharon Burey encounter Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations Bob Rae during the 67th UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York. The commission examined innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.


Wednesday March 8, 2023 – As part of SENgage, senators Patti LaBoucane-Benson and Yonah Martin, second last row, centre, meet with Toronto Metropolitan University Women in the House program at the Senate of Canada Building to celebrate International Women’s Day. They spoke about their path to the Senate and their work and shared their experiences of being a woman in the Senate.


Friday, March 10, 2023 – Senator Pierre J. Dalphond, far right, visits the faculty of law at McGill University in Montréal, Quebec. Along with Dean Robert Leckey, centre, he met with eight students who received scholarships from the prestigious McCall MacBain Foundation.

The senator was a speaker at the event that invited women in the Canadian Forces to learn and build connections with the Royal Canadian Navy. From left, Honorary Captain Queenie Choo; Commodore Josée Kurtz, Commandant of the Royal Military College; and Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Janet Austin, one of the event’s hosts.


Friday, March 10, 2023 – Senator Michèle Audette, centre, celebrates International Women’s Day in L’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, as part of l’Association féministe d’éducation et d’action sociale (AFEAS)’s conference under the theme of Indigenous women’s rights. She met with Monique Côté, the AFEAS L’Ancienne-Lorette local president, and Gaétan Pageau, L’Ancienne-Lorette Mayor.
