The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day at 9:33 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Lillian Eva Dyck, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dyck, Moore, Oh, Patterson and Raine (6).

In attendance: Brittany Collier and Alexandre Lavoie, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, the committee continued its study on the federal government's constitutional, treaty, political and legal responsibilities to First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

WITNESSES:

Madeleine Redfern, Mayor.

The Parliamentary Group:

Michael Dyment, CEO of Ltaa;

Marc Bourret, President of Ltaa;

Patrick Gagnon, Managing Partner of Parliamentary Group.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Redfern made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:35 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:39 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Dyment made a statement and, together with Messrs. Bourret and Gagnon, answered questions.

At 11:23 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
